Andrew 🆕

Andrew has recently retired and is now able to spend more time playing his Bechstein grand for himself, family and friends.  He grew up in a musical family—his mother played concerts in England as a young woman, and he had access to plenty of sheet music to challenge his abilities as he progressed in the Royal Conservatory through to Grade 10.  He enjoys playing a wide variety of music from Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann to choral music, Beatles, Elton John, André Gagnon and beyond.

Joining the Ottawa Piano Group has motivated him to focus on technique and accuracy—it is easy to get lazy with familiar pieces as one gets older.  He has been able to revisit some of his favourite pieces and improve his playing for his own and the group’s benefit.  At group meetings, he finds it engaging to learn how others are playing and working on pieces, and to share his love of the piano with others.
